Rob Crookes from the KG posted the following message on the unofficial Beer Tent (http://beertent.proboards.com):

Quote:
There's a few of us in the KG who participate in 25/28 mm wargaming and we are currently bounding about the idea of holding a SK wargame competition.

This follows on nicely with the excellent review in this months OoTD by Nick Holmes of new figure available at reasonable prices from warlord figures.

The theme would be ECW/Thirty years war period. Firstly we are just canvassing interest before we commit to exact details.

Depending on numbers we can then organise locations/leagues etc.

I know there's quite a few gamers out there' old and new so if you fancy dusting off your old paintbrush or buying a new one please let me know and we can take things from there.

As a starter for ideas we were going to have 3 different categories
Skirmish
Big battle
Cavalry battle
But to be honest we are open to ideas and input from anyone.

As we have a few wargamers in our midst I just thought I'd post it over here in case anyone is interested. Don't know any contact details for Rob but if anyone here shows an interest I'll drop him a message via the online beer tent for you

I have to admit that I used to enjoy painting little tin men and amassing armies but when it game to the actual gaming I started to glaze over. Too many rules (and arguments).

Good idea - but I don't possess a decent period army - my TYW Imperialists got retired nearly 20 years ago and aren't up to use at the moment.

Don't posess an army for this period and have a distrust/hatred of wargames competitions as they tend to bring out the worst in the hobby.
